A fast-casual restaurant chain with more than 200 operating units wanted to better understand what was driving employee engagement across its restaurants. Leadership needed to examine key employee experience factors, including work stress, supervisor relationships, growth opportunities, and guest focus. Just as importantly, the organization wanted to understand whether improvements in employee engagement were connected to measurable financial outcomes.
ForPsyte implemented a company-wide employee engagement survey aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Survey results were analyzed alongside key business metrics, including customer satisfaction, revenue, and year-over-year sales growth.
This allowed leaders to better understand the factors influencing the employee experience while connecting employee engagement results to store-level business performance.
The analysis demonstrated a clear relationship between improved employee engagement and financial performance. Among the 50 least engaged stores, a 4% increase in engagement scores was linked to approximately $14,000 in additional annual store-level profit. Across those 50 stores, this represented $700,000 in annual profit.
The findings also helped focus improvement efforts on management support, reducing work stress, and strengthening employee recognition, areas that contributed to improvements in employee engagement.
